Tryout Cupcake Recipe

It seems like I am hanging on to the cupcakes at the moment. But I have a mission to find the best vanilla cupcake recipe. So therefor I tried two new recipes last night. One white 125 Best Cupcake Recipes by Julie Hasson and one yellow from Cupcakes by Joanna Farrow. I have tried the white one before but it failed. So this time I must have done my conversion from cup to grams perfect because it was some really great cupcakes that came out of the oven this time. The yellow one must be the most simple one to make a quick batch of tasty cupcakes. All the ingrediens goes in the bowl at the same time and you just beat the batter smooth and thats it really. You can add to the yellow dough: cocoa, lemon, coffee and chocolate chips. Both recipes made a nice dome, they did not shrink and today the paper cups is still sticking to the cakes.
So how did they taste? The white was light, moist and a bit loose in the crumb. The yellow one was firm, very moist and had a nice buttery flavor.

Crockpot Swedish Meatball Recipe

My family, being mostly German and Scandinavian, often challenges me to make authentic recipes. My husband challenged me to make Hungarian Goulash, and a while back I was asked to make a Swedish meatball recipe with a twist - it had to be an easy crockpot recipe.

A crockpot Swedish meatball recipe seemed ideal for me; Swedish meatballs are a dish that would only improve by marinating all day long. I came up with this, and although you can use frozen meatballs to make the super quick and easy version, I've included a very tasty recipe for homemade meatballs as well.

2 - 12 ounce packages frozen meatballs

1 cup water

½ tsp nutmeg

1 tsp minced onion

½ tsp garlic powder

½ tsp dill weed

½ tsp black pepper

4 ounces cubed goat cheese

1 cup sour cream

Spray crock pot with non-stick cooking spray. Mix all ingredients except cheese and sour cream in crock pot, cover and cook on low 6-8 hours to high 3-4 hours. Stir in cheese and sour cream, cover and cook on high an additional 30 minutes. Serve with noodles (the most traditional), mashed potatoes, or rice, and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

World's Best Pickles

knew they were the world's best pickles the moment I tasted one. That first taste took place around 1950, and I've tasted a lot of pickles since, am a pickle hound in fact, but I've never come across anything else as good.

They came to us by way of my Uncle Ronald Smith, who was an electrician in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana where I grew up. One day he was doing electrical work for a Bulgarian family, and they rewarded him with a sample pickle. He liked it so much he got the recipe and gave it to his wife Gladys, who gave it to Grandma Glidewell, who made it and gave some to me, and I thought I'd died and gone to pickle heaven.

And thus, although they became an old Glidewell family recipe, they are really an old Bulgarian family recipe. The Bulgarian family, whose name I do not know, told Uncle Ronald that in Bulgaria, when the first heavy frost kills the tomato vines, they put all their end-of-garden vegetables -- including those green tomatoes -- into a barrel, fill the barrel with pickling brine, and eat the best pickles in the world all winter.

It turns out, though, that the pickles' travel from Bulgaria to the U.S. was only one leg of a more ancient journey. Because I mentioned them to an Iranian woman, and she said, "My family has always made pickles like that! Exactly like that, except we add tarragon."

French Cuisine Everyday Cook

When it comes to getting complicated in the kitchen, the first cuisine novice cooks think of is French. Whether it is presentation or preparation, it always seems that our European food lovers always do it so fancy. If you love cooking and are looking to get into a little more exciting menu, French cuisine can be just the thing you need. Don't let this distinguished culinary culture with the complicated tongue twisting titles throw you off. You can have a terrific culinary experience and here is how.

* Invest in Some Good Tools

While you don't need to stock your kitchen with tons of expensive equipment. I few standard, quality tools can really improve you're chances of success. First and foremost, invest in a good chef's nice. A quality knife will slice, dice, carve, mince, and chop everything you need to get through a meal preparation. You may also want to invest in a smaller, paring knife for peeling or cutting small delicate vegetables or other ingredient.

Among other tools you should consider investing in are utensils like a wooden spoon and a whisk, as well as a garlic press, cheese grater, and a pepper mill. For those of you who really want to invest in quality kitchen gear, nothing can ever really take the place of an electric mixer and bowls.

* Use Quality Ingredients

When it comes to food preparation, the final product is only as good as the ingredients you put into it. If you cook with sub par or barely fresh veggies and meats, the taste is going to come tell that story. The same is true for extremely cheap spices and oils. It's not necessary to spend hundreds of dollars on only the finest, but it is a good idea to invest a few extra dollars into higher quality products like olive oil, garlic, cooking wines, and produce. If you wouldn't eat it or drink it you shouldn't cook with it.

Berries And Nut Salad

This is a free online recipe for making berries and nut salad. From the name, we can deduce that this recipe is made up mostly of berries and nuts.

2 packages of raspberry-based gelatin powder

1 and a 1/2 cups of blueberries

1 packet of gelatin powder

1/2 cup of mixed nuts chopped

2 cups of hot boiling water

8 ounces of cream cheese

1 cup of half and half

1 cup of cold plain water

1 cup of white sugar

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Below steps are the method and instructions:

1. Firstly we will need to chop the mixed nuts into smaller pieces.

2. Next, put the raspberry gelatin powder in the cup of boiling water. After that, place the mix into a appropriately sized pan. Let the mix chill in a refrigerator until it becomes firm.

3. Now, mix the unflavored gelatin ( not the raspberry one) with the cup of cold water. Put them aside for the moment

4. Next we need to mix the half and half into the saucepan. Boil the mix. Once done, turn of the heat.

5. Add softened cream cheese into the pan and beat until very smooth.

6. Next, put in the nuts, vanilla extract and unflavored gelatin mixture into the pan. Stir the mix until gelatin is fully dissolved. Let them cool and then pour over the chilled layer. Leave it to chill until the thing becomes firmed.

7. Add water to blueberry to make juice of about 2 cups of liquid. Bring this mix to a boil. After that, add the remaining raspberry gelatin package; stir until dissolved. Cool this mixture again and then stir in blueberries.

Finally, pour this mixture over the cheese layer. Again leave them to chill until they become firm. The salad is now ready for serving.

That is all for the salad recipe.
